It’s time to practice your spiral and your touchdown dance to game up for SharePoint Saturday Philly 2012. Join SharePoint MVPs, thought leaders, enthusiasts and members of the SharePoint community as they take the GeekIron on Saturday February 4th for what is being called the SharePointBowl 2012 in some circles – at least any circle that consists mostly of me.
Yes people, it’s Superbowl weekend and I’m going to be spending it with you fine folks of Philly because I was selected to present at SharePoint Saturday Philly! Woo hoo!
For anyone that isn’t aware, the Superbowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL ), the highest level of professional American football in the United States. Guess where the Superbowl is this year for the first time in history? Indianapolis, my home town. None of that matters when it’s SharePointBowl 2012. I’ll be bringing Superbowl Sunshine to Philly and a football theme to my jump shots. It is also very likely that I will not be able to fly back to Indy on Superbowl Sunday so I will likely be crashing someone’s Superbowl party on Sunday.
My Session Covers the Impact of User Experience on Adoption
You may already be aware of my passion for championing true User Experience design in SharePoint. You may know that I used to teach Intro to User Centered Design and Usability Testing at the Art Institute. What you may not know is that I used to be an R.N. and spent time working in psych before eventually finding SharePoint. Whether you find that fact fascinating or strange, my SPSPhilly session “SharePoint User Experience, What Can it Do for Adoption?” includes a bit more science and psychology than previous presentations. This session includes new material based on research and real life experience.
Here’s the official session overview:
This session outlines the fundamental elements of SharePoint User Experience and how these elements impact the expectations of your users and overall user adoption See examples of both good and bad user experience design in SharePoint and the impact to user adoption. This session covers basics of usability, interaction design, and the psychology of users.
When and Where
Now that you know how cool my presentation is and the very neat nickname I have for SPSPhilly, you can put a save the date in your calendar. Registration will begin in January.
Date: February 4, 2012 (Superbowl Weekend, but who cares, we are geeks)
Time: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Location: DeVry (Website), 1140 Virginia Drive, Fort Washington, PA 19034
SharePoint Saturdays Really Are For Everyone
If you haven’t been to a SharePoint Saturday yet, you should really give this one a try. Not only are the presentations varied across all different topics, there are sessions for both the beginner and the advanced user. Anyone that touches SharePoint or has an interest is invited. It’s a chance to extend your network, locate hard to find answers and rant about SharePoint.
Don’t forget that this is a FREE conference!! How can I sell this any more? What else is there to do in early February unless you are in Indianapolis. Let’s face it, you just spent way too much money on food for your Superbowl Sunday. Come alone or with a group.
Also don’t forget to think of me when you are sending out invites to your Philadelphia based Superbowl party.
