Tips to Taking a Killer Jumpshot

It’s been weeks er.. months and I’ve not posted anything SharePoint related.  But I won’t beat myself up, I hope no one else does either. :)     Believe me, I live and breathe SharePoint, design and usability.  I also have this thing for something called jumpshots.

As many of you know jumpshots are my thing (definition: a photograph taken of a person in mid-air).  There is something so fascinating about these shots.   We are always in motion and darnit!  It’s cool to see us stopped in mid-air.I will be doing these photos at SPC09.  I’ve got galleries set up to accomodate all jumpers.  Still figuring out the logistics of how to get so many tweeters and attendees to jump in an organized manner.  While I figure that out, you can get at least practice your jumpshot with the following tip list:

Knees Bent Jumpshot Example

Knees Bent Jumpshot Example

 1.  Fake It Till you Make It!!-   Afraid you can’t get off the ground?  You should do a fake jump and keep one foot on the ground.  If you do get both feet off the ground, bend your knees to give the illusion that you are much higher than you actually are.

2.Love Your Tummy! – Make sure that you wear a long heavy shirt or tuck it in. Look at the photos of me doing jumpshots.  My stomach shows in most of them.  I’m not always pleased about this.   But the shirts I wear aren’t long enough and don’t tuck in.  So learn to love your tummy or wear a shirt that doesn’t fly up.
3. Work with Gravity  Gravity can be your best friend or worst enemy.  If you err on your jump timing, be late, rather than early.

So that’s it.  Easy enough, right?
See you at SCP09!! I board my plane in just a few hours.  Here I come vegas!!

Don’t forget to follow me on twitter to see more jumpshots from #spc09.
